New Brunswick's anti-fracking moratorium goes into effect today. It's a shame, because fracking could help alleviate the province's chronically high unemployment rate.
A lot of those unemployed New Brunswickers have, in fact, left their home province to work in the oil industry in Alberta and BC.
NB could have become something of an energy superpower, given that it sits atop lots of shale rock.
The province's reasons for blocking fracking just don't make sense. If you don't know what "social license" means, Ezra explains it.
