The CFIB has conducted small business confidence surveys for 15 years, and Ruddy said that the figures out of Alberta are at an all-time low -- lower even than in traditional "have not" regions like Newfoundland, or in Ontario during the 2008 recession.
She points out that many NDP policies are concerning for small business owners in Alberta, such as promised tax hikes, next years 50% minimum wage increase, and new laws and regulations.
Notley has promised a job creation tax credit but the NDP still hasn't tabled a budget, five months after taking office.
Levant points out that an outright tax cut would be better than a red-tape heavy tax credit, and notes that 35,000 jobs have been lost in the oil patch this year already.
