The power went out Sunday afternoon, canceling more than one-thousand flights to and from Atlanta. Delta, which has its headquarters and largest hub in Atlanta, canceled more than nine-hundred flights. The outage left passengers stuck in dark terminals and trapped in planes sitting on the tarmac. Mayor Kasim Reed says the outage started with a fire in a Georgia Power underground electrical facility. The fire damaged two substations serving the airport, including the airport's backup power. Crews worked around the clock to restore power around midnight.
