The native of Ghana won the 500-meters by a huge margin at the short track trial on Saturday in Kearns, Utah. Biney moved to the U.S. at the age of five and lives in Washington D.C. Biney is the second Black speed-skater on the U.S. Olympic team. Shani Davis was the first Black athlete to win an individual gold medal at the Winter Olympics in 2002. Now Biney will train for the 2018 Winter games, which will take place in Pyeong Chang, South Korea in February.
