The New York Times interviewed several women who used to work at the automobile plants in Chicago. They say they were mocked, dismissed, threatened and ostracized while working there.
In August, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, reached a ten-million-dollar settlement with Ford for sexual and racial harassment at the two Chicago plants. This, too, happened before: In the 1990s, a string of lawsuits and an E.E.O.C. investigation resulted in a 22-million-dollar settlement and a commitment by Ford to crack down. The woman say the settlements are not solving the harassment issue at the plants.
