13:41Now PlayingThe issue of reparations has introduced itself into the vernacular of several Democratic presidential candidates who have thrown their hats in the ring for 2020. The issue is not new. This discussion has been going on since slavery ended.
Dr. Ron Daniels, President of the Institute of the Black World 21st Century and economist Dr. Julianne Malveaux spoke with Roland Martin during Tuesday's edition of #RolandMartinUnfiltered about the debate over reparations and HR40, the bill that established the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-Americans.
The bill also would give Congress the authority to examine slavery and discrimination in the colonies and the United States from 1619 to the present and recommend appropriate remedies.
