12:02Now PlayingThe United States has the highest rate of death in childbirth of any first world country. Around 700 mothers a year die in childbirth. Black women fare even worse. Black woman die in childbirth at three to four times the rate of white women and they suffer complications at twice the rate of white mothers.
Breana Lipscomb, the US Maternal Health & Human Rights Campaign Manager at the Center for Reproductive Rights spoke with Roland Martin about this disturbing trend and what can be done to change it.
