10:51Now PlayingDr. Steve Perry spoke with Roland Martin during Friday’s edition of #RolandMartinUnfiltered about the education crisis in Black America.
Perry explained that “there is an endpoint” where children stop learning. He said, “We are taking in children at the 8th, 9th, 10th 11th and 12th grade that have stopped progressing around the 5th grade.”
Perry also explained some 10th grade students are reading at a 6th grade level which is well below the theory of children reading two grade levels behind. To end this disturbing trend, Perry said, “We're going to have to find strategies that are so drastic that none of us are going to feel comfortable with how much it's going to upset the apple cart."
