7:28Now PlayingElection day on Tuesday in Chicago and Lori Lightfoot, until recently a relatively unknown corporate lawyer, scored a big victory over an experienced politician, Toni Preckwinkle, President of the Cook County Board of Supervisors.
Lightfoot secured 73.7% of the vote and won every one of Chicago's fifty wards. It was a stunning rebuke to establishment politics in Chicago.
Lightfoot and Preckwinkle prayed together on Wednesday at a post-election unity event brokered by the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Lightfoot's win makes her the first Black and the first gay mayor of Chicago.
