Morris explained an open letter, backed by many leaders of color in Vermont was sent to the Sanders Institute requesting a meeting with the hopes of setting an "agenda for the rest of the world and for this nation."
The letter also expressed a conversation needed to be had to address what they saw happening in Vermont reflecting what was happening in the rest of the country.
