Doug Jones (DAL), Sen. Tim Scott (RSC), Rep. Alma Adams (DNC) and Rep. Mark Walker (RNC), extends important mandatory funding in Title III, Part F of the Higher Education Act of 1965 until Fiscal Year 2021 for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), HispanicServing Institutions (HSIs) and other MinorityServing institutions (MSIs). []

Across the nation, colleges and universities serving predominantly minority student populations are facing a fiscal "cliff" that will impact nearly 4 million students or more than one-quarter of all undergraduates in the country. They're faced with the elimination of federal funding.
Congress was set to vote on the FUTURE Act, a bi-partisan bill designed to help deal with a major funding issue. Rep. Mark Walker one of the sponsors of the bill spoke with Roland Martin about the possibility of the FUTURE Act being passed in the House and if it would be passed by the Republican controlled Senate.
