NY Misidentified Inactive Voters. Judge Rules State Must Include Inactive Voters On Poll Ledgers

New York state’s election process violated the constitutional rights of tens of thousands of voters by improperly identifying them as inactive, a federal judge found.

U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan of the Southern District of New York ordered state election officials to provide the names of inactive voters registered to vote in a particular election district to that district’s poll workers.

The judgment comes after Common Cause New York, a nonprofit goodgovernment organization, filed a 2017 suit against the State Board of Elections and other state officials challenging New York’s election practices. []
