The Black community is often underrepresented in studies and research about eating disorders within the black community. The misconceptions about eating disorders also make black people underdiagnosed with food-related diseases such as anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder, including extreme emotions, attitudes, and behaviors surrounding weight and food issues.
Dr. Rachel Goode, an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, is here to discuss how eating disorders are impacting the black community.
