11:53Now PlayingFisk University is making history as the first HBCU gymnastics team to compete at the NCAA level.
Fisk Lady Bulldogs are now in direct competition with more established teams, including previous NCAA champions Oklahoma, Michigan, and UCLA. The team's leadoff gymnast Naimah Muhammad and Fisk's five-star recruit, Morgan Price, made national headlines with their athletic ability and grace.
The team stepped into the national spotlight on Friday when they competed at the inaugural "Super 16" in Las Vegas. They finished in fourth place with a score of 186.700.
The team is led by Corrinne Tarver, a U.S. National Team member during the 1985-1986 season, a national floor title holder, and two team title holder with Georgia, in 1987 and 1989.
Tarver spoke with Roland Martin during Tuesday's edition of Roland Martin Unfiltered about the historic first for Fisk University.
