2:00Now PlayingWe need to recognize that there are coordinated attacks on entrepreneurship, education, and employment, all aimed at undermining the economic mobility and self-determination of Black communities. These efforts are interconnected. For example, when people lose their jobs, like many federal employees currently being laid off, it makes it much harder to achieve economic stability. Similarly, when we dismantle the already fractured education system, it’s Black and brown communities that will suffer the most. In terms of entrepreneurship, while 20% of small businesses close after the first year, 80% of Black-owned businesses fail within that same timeframe. We must prioritize investing in Black businesses. We also need to support Black media—like what Roland is doing, as well as Essence and the work Angela Rye is doing. #BlackStarNetwork #StateofOurUnion #RolandMartinUnfiltered #EDUCATION #BlackMediaMatters #Entrepreneurship #CommunityVoices #SocialJustice #Accountability #EconomicJustice
