A federal judge has denied Donald Trump’s attempt to dismiss a defamation lawsuit filed by the men formerly known as the Central Park Five—who were exonerated after spending over a decade in prison for a 1989 rape and assault they did not commit.
In a separate case, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the Trump administration must attempt to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man mistakenly deported to a high-security prison in El Salvador.
In the 9-0 decision, the justices upheld a lower court’s order to “facilitate and effectuate” Garcia’s return, though they noted the presiding judge may have overstepped her authority.
