Cory Booker tore into Todd Blanche’s nomination for attorney general, calling the process “farcical,” “ridiculous,” and dangerously unserious. He said Republicans advanced Blanche without securing meaningful guarantees that Trump would be prevented from using the Justice Department to protect himself, reward allies, or target political enemies.

Booker argued that Blanche’s record already shows where his loyalty lies. He pointed to Blanche’s role in matters involving Trump’s taxes, the Trump family’s financial dealings, the Epstein files, and Ghislaine Maxwell, then warned that placing him at the top of the Justice Department would turn the office into a personal weapon for Trump.

“He is not America’s lawyer,” Booker said. “He is about to become Trump’s sword against his adversaries and shield against any scrutiny.”

Booker also accused his Republican colleagues of surrendering the committee’s remaining integrity and abandoning its duty to check presidential power. His warning was direct: putting Blanche in one of the most powerful law-enforcement positions in the country would be laughable if the consequences were not so dangerous.
