Hakeem Jeffries joined Roland Martin to answer questions about why he met with Jared Kushner, what Democrats would do if they retake the House, and how the party plans to reach Black voters in the closing stretch before the midterms.

Jeffries said Kushner reached out for the meeting and argued that Democrats have to push back against extremism while still taking opportunities to hear from people close to the administration. Pressed on Trump family corruption, Jeffries said nobody connected to the Trump cartel would get a pass and that people stealing from, shortchanging, or screwing over the American people would be held accountable. He also said Democratic oversight and judiciary members have already launched investigations into Trump corruption.

Roland then turned to Trump's Postal Service order and broader fears about election interference. Jeffries said Republicans are trying to rig the midterms, said Democrats have built the largest voter protection effort in the country's history, and argued they will keep battling the order in court while also pushing other ways for people to vote early and by mail.

The stakes for Black voters and Black media could not be higher. Roland pressed Jeffries on complaints from Black firms, Black consultants, and Black media that promised Democratic investment still is not showing up fast enough. Jeffries said Democrats cannot take any Black vote for granted, that authentic messaging requires authentic platform engagement and messengers, and that robust Black voter participation remains essential to Democratic victories.
