China has made it clear: they want Taiwan by 2027. But amphibious landings are hard. Airborne assaults? Even harder. That’s where Russia steps in.
According to the Royal United Services Institute, Moscow is supplying China with an entire airborne battalion’s worth of equipment, plus training, doctrine, and even the industrial know-how to build and maintain it. Think BMD-4s, Sprut anti-tank guns, parachute systems, and Russian instructors teaching PLA troops how to use them.
This isn’t just gear, it’s operational knowledge. And it changes the calculus for Taiwan, the U.S., and allies in the Pacific.
So is this a game-changer? Or just China experimenting with Russian hardware? Let’s break down what this partnership really means for the future of Taiwan.
