America may have entered the Iran conflict with ambitious goals—but now Washington has no clean way out.
In this video, I break down the seven realistic options the United States has left, including a negotiated armistice, armed containment in the Strait of Hormuz, continued bombing, declaring victory and disengaging, betting on regime collapse, launching ground operations, and even using a nuclear weapon against Iran’s underground nuclear facilities.
Using Intelligence Community Directive 203, I assess how likely each option is—and why the coming 2026 midterm elections may shape Iran’s strategy as much as anything happening on the battlefield.
The uncomfortable conclusion is that the United States may have to choose between freedom of navigation, major nuclear and missile concessions, or regime change.
It probably cannot achieve all three at an acceptable cost.
