Rashida Tlaib’s visit with him on the tarmac in Detroit to speak to him about the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. Despite what Biden’s Secretary of State Antony Blinken said yesterday from Denmark, it certainly didn’t seem like the U.S. was doing anything to push Israel toward a ceasefire or to encourage a peaceful end to the violence. In fact, Biden agreed to sell Israel $730 million in weaponry mere days ago. We’re arming one side, and the other side is full of civilians who are trapped exactly where they are, with little to no access to food, running water, or electricity (not that these conditions are necessarily new for many). However, Biden gave Netanyahu a deadline of end of day today for major de-escalation.
Tlaib and her parents are Palestinian immigrants and she has family on the West Bank. She was not the only congressperson on the tarmac, but Biden mentioned her while he was talking, calling her “Rashid,” but still.
Fox News brings on some guy named Joey Jones, a former Marine, to assess this situation. His assessment makes no sense. It would be scary if it did.
