Sam Seder: The head of the central command in Afghanistan, Kenneth McKenzie at a pentagon press conference with pentagon press secretary John Kirby, this is from yesterday this is their announcement:
Video: I'm here to announce the completion of our withdrawal from Afghanistan. In the end of the military mission to evacuate American citizens, third-country nationals, and vulnerable afghans. The last c-17 lifted off from Hamad Karzai international airport on August 30th this afternoon at 3:29 pm east coast time and the last manned aircraft is now clearing the airspace above Afghanistan.
SS: And so it ends, the 20-year war I guess shy of a couple months a month and a half or so and I mean it's there's going to be a lot of there's you know there's a lot of talk on right-wing radio and right-wing media focusing on the deaths of the 13 marines who got blown up in a suicide bombing attack outside of the Kabul airport. Of course, there were also dozens of Afghan civilians who were also killed in that explosion, and then in our response, we ended up killing almost a dozen children and almost two dozen other civilians.
