5:41Now PlayingMany Republicans running this cycle seem to have embraced the Covid-19 culture wars as a means to reaching their demo. With illogical fighting against federal Covid mandates or guidelines as their bona fides, an easy and literally insane bond is formed.
Along these same lines of inappropriate-feelings-of-trust toward people you don’t know (toxic parasocial relationships, we all know it now), @FoxNews had a discussion on its HIT show “The Five” about just how terrible air travel is right now, dahhhling, and these Southwest Airlines people are just pathetic. Is this War On Christmas pilot shortage going to continue? The Majority Report crew discusses the same thing that’s on everyone at Fox’s mind: So the U.S.’s infrastructure is crumbling — what does this mean for me, specifically, in the next two months or so?

Sam Seder: I mean, there's so many different things that are fascinating here: On one hand, you've got Greg Gutfield sort of espousing the "this is an authoritarian state where are we going to be in a couple of years," which is shocking to hear Greg Gutfeld worried about this. Where does he find out what this country's been doing for the past 20 years in terms of like Muslims and spying and whatnot. Never mind, 20 years. But then the idea that they are now launching the War on Christmas? We're not even at Thanksgiving yet. This is a... they're getting a jump on this. And they are making it about the Left's inability to discipline labor in such a way that they should get there.
Remember, we are a month out from when these people told us all these jobs are going to come back if we we stop giving people the hammock of unemployment benefits. And there's obviously something else going on here that they are denying, but they're out front with their narrative and that's the way they're gonna do it.
Emma Vigeland: Well the War on Christmas seems like a natural way to uh tie into blaming organized labor for everything, right? You can um tie that into just like general arguments about unfettered capitalism and how organized labor is a a hamper on that but then they're also blaming vaccine mandates where the labor unions have explicitly said, "I think the Southwest Airline pilot labor union... that this is not a result of any mass walkout due to vaccine mandates." But they're trying to kind of make all of this work together. The reason that Southwest is canceling flights en mass is because it's Southwest, and it sucks. It has nothing to do with vaccine mandates.
SS: They over they overbooked and they basically broke their staff.
Matt Lech: We need to unionize the elves.
SS: There you go.
EV: Yeah that's a good point. That's of course a typical leftist idea, right? Ruin Christmas.
