Gov. Ron DeSantis confirms reports that Republicans in Florida are looking to ban some math textbooks for school kids because of material deemed "inappropriate" by conservative culture war antagonists: "Math is about getting the right answer...it's not about how you feel about the problem...we don't want things like math to have some of those other concepts introduced."

What is the ball? He can’t really say it out loud, but it's to make sure that. There's enough of a firewall for parents who are conservative, who don't want their children learning not to hate people. Ron DeSantis is going to provide that for them. It’s two-for and then they get to target teachers, because if they teach material that contains social and emotional learning in the context that is math class, where it has to be straight forwards—facts over feelings in a math class, right,.Those teachers can be fired, it's a great way to undercut teacher unions too. What is the social and emotional learning that was in these textbooks?
