It is a sign of the times that they are so backfooted by this. I just don't remember a state of the union where the Republicans are back-footed. I remember the state of the unions like under George W Bush where the Democrats were all scrambling over we're not soft on anything. We're tough. we're just waiting, you know. We're smart. That's what the Republicans are running around doing. Look at Kevin McCarthy running to Fox and Friends in the morning. Yeah, I wonder if he and Frank Luntz actually like to drive each other to the relative Studios. I wonder if Kevin McCarthy's at the CNBC studio and they're just pumping him in. Because he and Luntz just drove together out of there. You’re with Frank Luntz, aren't you? Vaguely. The guy won't clean his dishes. Well, the president was trying to Goat the members. And the members are passionate about it. But the one thing the president was saying is something that he knew was not true. I just spent an hour with him. I've said it many times before. Social Security and Medicare are off the table. He tries to use that as a political ploy. But the one thing we need to be is we need to be smart. He's trying to play politics with the debt ceiling by not negotiating. By lying about our position. I want to be responsible. I want to be sensible. I want to sit down and work through this problem because look, the Democrats raised the highest debt ceiling ever. And they blew through it in the shortest amount of time and now they want us to come right back to it. We need to be smart. don't take the bait. stay with the American public about what we want to do.
