12:54Now PlayingRepublican State Representatives in Florida hosted an information session on Florida Law SB 1718, that in part targets migrants' ability to work in Florida. one of the reps, Rick Roth, said to the spanish speaking audience that the legislation is designed to scare immigrants and that it is urgent that the people in the audience talk to "your people" and tell them not to leave the state because of this law.
Later, Rep. Alina Garcia started her remarks by acknowledging that she didn't expect to speak at this event so she didn't come fully prepared, but echoes Rep. Roth's concerns that SB1718 has scared migrant laborers and deterred people from wanting to work in the state. she tries to convince the audience that the bill doesn't actually have any teeth.
Rep. Roth desperately tried to express that the legislation is more of a "political bill" then anything else.
