as posted by the channelThe Supreme Court ruled 6-3 today overturning Affirmative Action, saying that it violates the Equal Protection Clause within the 14th Amendment. In the majority opinion, Chief Justice Roberts qualified that colleges could consider applicants' "...discussion of how race affected his or her life," as long as they're "...treated based on his or her experiences as an individual-not on the basis of race."
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson in her dissenting opinion on the Affirmative Action cases says that the decisions today obstruct "...our collective progress toward the full realization" of the Equal Protection Clause in the 14th Amendment and "...is truly a tragedy for us all."
Justice Sotomayor in her dissenting opinion said that today's decision "...will serve only to highlight the court's own impotence in the face of an America whose cries for equality resound..."
