Hurricane Sandy Victim and Advocate, Errol Riley, represents 106 families in 28 hotels. He confronts city officials during meeting at JFK hotel. Most of the families didn't have Metro Cards to get to the meeting .
For 6 months these families have done everything required of them by their case management workers, they have attended every rally, filled out all the paperwork, found ways to meetings with no car fare.
They have been given the run around by DHS, Red Cross, BRC and NYCHA. Men with criminal histories are denied housing, even though offenses were 20 years ago. They are denied Metro Cards and Food assistance.
At a meeting with families at a hotel at JFK on March 28 paneled by Seth Diamond head of Department of Homeless Services, Brad Gair point man for Mayor Bloomberg, Anne-Marie Hendrickson of the HPD.
families were told there were only 150 Section 8 vouchers for almost 2,000 families. They are being evicted on April 30, some are already in the streets. Evicted by case management workers BRC and Samaritan Village.
