In this video I discuss the one of the more popular current Trends on YouTube. That trend of course is the increase in the number of channels doing live streams. Now of course this is due to 2 major factors, the first has to due with the unreliable nature of Ad revenue, and the second is SuperChat money. Now for some childish reason YouTubers always seem to get angry when you point out they're running a business, so I took great care not to single anyone in particular out. But let's be honest, it's all about the Superchat money now. That being said I seemed to have noticed a trend that no one else is talking about and that's the idea that SuperChats seem deliberately engineered to pray on the same parts of the brain mobile games do. In fact through my examination of multiple streams on approximately a dozen channels, a significant portion of a streaming Youtubers revenue comes from a very small percentage of donors. Unfortunately my data set is not as strong as it could be due to the fact that I don't have a team assisting me with data collection. But from what I can tell from analyzing my random sample of large creators who frequently stream, the data does in fact parallel what we can see in the mobile gaming industry. It is my hypothesis, that google, either purposely or inadvertently, has created an addictive system of micros transactions for YouTube. From what I have observed, High dollar amount and high frequency Superchat donors, are just whales and dolphins swimming in uncharted waters. I've made this video in the hopes that people prone to these addictive tendencies either avoid live streams all together or monitor their spending when it comes to Superchat. The power of anticipation & delayed gratification is well known and I hope that people will continue to talk about this going forward.
