Jim Bunning's efforts to block a short-term extension of unemployment benefits and COBRA. "It's very clear that what we do has tremendous consequences," said Reid. "But what we don't do also has tremendous ramifications. That's the reason we can't afford to ignore the growing problems that we have with the long unemployment lines in every state -- every state. Or the insurance industry. Or Wall Street. Climate. Or battlefields in far-away lands."
