2:18Now PlayingFreshmen and sophomore Democratic Senators today went to the Senate floor as a group to highlight the Republican obstructionism on nominations. As of this morning, there are 88 nominees on the Senate calendar, including posts at the National Labor Relations Board, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Treasury and the Army. Sen. Jeff Merkley called on Republicans to end their obstructionist tactics, arguing, "I call upon my Republican colleagues who are conducting this attack on the president and his team to honor their constitutional responsibilities to advise and consent, to take this list, and if there are a couple key nominees that you have serious concerns about, then indeed let's have that debate here on the floor."
