Through investments in our nation's infrastructure, a payroll tax cut and small business tax credits, this fully paid-for bill has the potential to create or save one million jobs this year. "This is a great day," said Senator Barbara Boxer. "Today, a million American workers know their jobs are more secure because we have renewed the transportation bill through the end of the year." Noting Democrats' commitment to a jobs agenda this year, Senator Debbie Stabenow said, "The HIRE Act is the first of many jobs initiatives that will put Michigan, and the country, back to work during this difficult time."
