Jul 24, 20122:16Now PlayingOn June 15, 2012, President Obama announced that individuals, commonly referred to as DREAMers who meet certain criteria can now apply for Deferred Action. Deferred Action does not grant amnesty or immunity for eligible individuals. Deferred Action also does not grant individuals in the United States permanent legal status or citizenship, nor does it grant them the rights of citizens. Deferred Action will assist DREAMers who qualify to avoid deportation, attain work permits for 2 years, and allow them to be active members in their communities. An estimated 800,000 DREAMERs are eligible for Deferred Action.
