Jun 4, 20255:16Now PlayingAt a Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee hearing, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a senior member and former Chair of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, questioned Inspector General nominee Cheryl Mason and Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Legislative Affairs nominee Don Bergin. During her questioning, Senator Murray highlighted the importance of nonpartisan oversight and the role of Congressional engagement. Both Ms. Mason and Mr. Bergin currently work as Senior Advisors to Secretary Collins, under whose leadership the VA has rolled out policies to limit Congressional engagement with veterans and VA staff and has repeatedly stonewalled members of Congress on critical requests for information and oversight in an unprecedented manner.
