Shahid’s family immigrated to the U.S. to escape religiions and racial discrimination.
After his family’s home was foreclosed in his teens, Shahid worked for 10 years to put himself through night school before studying & teaching at Stanford Law School, and later, launching a national project for the Electronic Frontier Foundation. He has battled for 20 years to defend—and successfully expand—human, civil and digital rights.
Shahid is committed to justice. That is why he supports:
Medicare for All: Universal healthcare free at the point of service
Green New Deal: Just transition to a green economy based on 100% renewable energy
Housing for All: Expand tenant rights and public housing
College for All: Free public college and cancel student debt
