Policy lessons to learn from Uvalde

Last week's tragic events in Uvalde offer crucial policy, political, and constitutional lessons for those independent enough to recognize them.

Policy solutions include 1️⃣revising the federal assault weapons ban, 2️⃣expanding background check requirements, closing loopholes, 3️⃣repealing the PCLAA passed by Congress in 2005 to insulate the gun industry from civil liability, and 4️⃣funding community prevention and intervention programs that currently remain overlooked.

Accountability should include not only police who sat on their hands, but also the politicians who empower them and continue to ignore better alternatives poised to actually ensure public safety. We'll save that—and name a few names to advance that accountability—in our next video.
