Figures from Nielsen Book show that 26-and-half million books were sold in the four weeks leading up to Christmas with a value of more than £227 million.
The industry is hailing it as a successful year, although it's slightly less than the 28.7 million books we bought last year.
At number one is Bad Dad by David Walliams, which has sold more than 60,000 copies in the past four weeks.
That's just ahead of Jamie Oliver's latest cookery book and a Christmas stalwart -- the Guinness Book of Records.
