He was speaking to Sky News' Alex Crawford after visiting another bombed apartment building, where people were killed and injured.
The people "had energy" and were "really upset" with what Russian soldiers have been doing to civilians, he explained.
The Mayor called for people to spend time in bunkers to try and avoid Russian bombing.
He called for unity from "the democratic world", as the Ukrainian people were fighting for "our democratic values and principles".
