as posted by the channelThe controversial Illegal Migration Bill has its second reading in the House of Lords.
The proposed bill seeks to detain and then deport anyone arriving in the UK on a small boat - sending people either to their country of origin or a third nation like Rwanda. It also looks to limit the ability of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) to prevent the deportation of asylum seekers.
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby criticised the bill in the House of Lords earlier in the day. He had previously slated the government's treatment of migrants, including its flagship Rwanda deportation plan.
There will also be a motion to decline the bill, put forward by Liberal Democrat life peer, Lord Paddick.
