Children's minister Claire Coutinho MP has told Sky News "more law is probably required" to compel those convicted of crimes to appear in person in court for sentencing.

Her comments come after it emerged Lucy Letby is unlikely to appear at her sentencing for the murder of seven babies and the attempted murders of six more.

Although judges can order individuals to appear in court, it is up to the prison service to implement that order.
