3:27Now PlayingA Kurdish family who had made Germany their home before they were faced with deportation have spoken to Sky News about how they paid thousands of pounds to people smugglers, and risked their lives, as they crossed the Channel to the UK.
Despite promises by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to "stop the boats", a record numbers of migrants have crossed the Channel so far this year.
Last week the family was among them, cramming into a rickety vessel with around 60 others.
