6:39Now PlayingThe World Health Organisation has declared mpox a global health emergency as cases in Africa rise, with officials saying it is a "major concern" for the continent.
Dr Jean Kaseya, Director General of the Africa Centres for Diseases Control and Prevention, told Sky News there are now 17,000 suspected cases this year compared to 15,000 last week with 571 deaths in 2024.
He said he was "confused" that many of the cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo were young people.
