10:40Now PlayingNigel Huddleston, the co-chairman of the Conservative Party, has admitted that Nigel Farage and Reform UK are a "force in British politics" following the local elections.
Despite beating Labour in the Runcorn and Helsby by-election and toppling a host of Conservative councils though, he said he is sceptical that Farage and his party can sustain their success over a long period.
Mr Huddleston added: "He is an incredibly good politician in many ways. But people do know him and he's a known quantity. But the one thing about Nigel Farage is, and we're seeing this again and again and again, he is a populist. He is increasingly saying everything that anybody wants to hear. He's trying to be all things to all men."
