9:13Now PlayingZia Yusuf, the chairman of Reform UK, has said the "stranglehold' both Labour and the Conservative Party hold in the UK has finally been broken.
He says he is "absolutely delighted" by the success of the local elections, pointing out that Nigel Farage had said in June that he had a "five-year plan".
Mr Yusuf added: "It was a historic day because it was the clear and decisive evidence that the stranglehold that the two old parties have had on British politics for 100 years has finally broken. That means we can usher in a new era of politics in this country."
