UK-Israel row grows after Miliband announces Israeli settlements trade ban | The Cathy Newman Show

The Israeli government will close the UK's consulate in East Jerusalem in reaction to the UK sanctioning goods produced in the occupied West Bank, Israel's foreign minister has announced.

Earlier, Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband announced that the UK would introduce "an import ban on goods from illegal settlements in the occupied territories."

He declared the government "agrees that there is ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in areas of the West Bank - perpetrated by settler terrorists" and said the Israeli government too often "turned a blind eye".

Miliband also announced that the UK government will "take action against specific companies and individuals who provide services such as construction, infrastructure, financing, or real estate for settlement expansion".
