On February 22, 2022, a 911 call was placed by someone who had just witnessed a car deliberately slam into a group of people. The caller then followed the vehicle while describing it to the 911 dispatcher, making it easy for a nearby officer to intercept.
The driver appeared to flee, but after a short chase, they pulled into the parking lot of the police station and exited the car, where they were taken into custody.
The suspect turned out to be Beatrice Bijoux, an attorney diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Bijoux abruptly told the officer that she had intended to kill the group of people with her car, and she was taken in for questioning.
