Donna Adelson is set to face trial for the disturbing murder of father of two and Florida State law professor Dan Markel-- a case that has gripped the nation for more than decade. Prosecutors allege that Donna was a key player in the murder-for-hire plot that led to Markel’s 2014 shooting, a crime for which her son, Charlie Adelson, was convicted just two years ago. During his own trial, Charlie claimed the entire ordeal was nothing more than a bizarre “double extortion” scheme, but jurors didn’t buy it—and now his mother will stand before the court to face the very same charges. With the high-profile case returning to the spotlight, the community focuses in on the Leon County Courthouse as Donna's trial begins on August 19th.
