1:28Now PlayingIf you relate to Fearful Avoidant patterns, the hot-and-cold dynamic isn’t random… and it’s not because you’re unstable.
It’s a survival loop.
Fearful Avoidants often grew up experiencing love as both safe and painful.
Connection felt good, until it didn’t.
Care felt warm, until it was unpredictable or hurtful.
So the subconscious wiring becomes:
“Love feels amazing… but love will hurt me.”
Of course you’d move closer.
Of course you’d pull away.
On top of that, many Fearful Avoidants:
• Struggle to clearly communicate their own needs
• Over-focus on meeting others’ needs while neglecting their own
• Find vulnerability and co-regulation deeply uncomfortable
When relationships start to feel one-sided or emotionally exposed, the nervous system steps in to self-protect.
That push-pull isn’t chaos.
It’s protection.
And the beautiful truth?
These patterns were learned, which means they can be unlearned.
Secure Attachment isn’t about shutting down your depth.
It’s about feeling safe enough to stay open.
Do you notice yourself pulling away most when things start to feel deeply intimate?
