The case centers around multiple fatal tractor trailer crashes involving foreign drivers who allegedly failed basic English proficiency testing but still obtained CDL licenses in blue states.
Clarence Thomas, joined by Justice Alito, issued a blistering dissent arguing that SCOTUS has an obligation to hear disputes between states because the Constitution gives the Supreme Court exclusive jurisdiction over such lawsuits. According to Thomas, if the Court refuses to hear the case, Florida literally has nowhere else to go.
