Biden’s Chance to Either be FDR or a One-Term President w/ Naomi Klein

Naomi Klein, author and Gloria Steinem endowed chair in Media, Culture and Feminist Studies at Rutgers University, joins Francesca Fiorentini for this previously Patron-only segment. Francesca asks her for her best guess at what we should be pushing our elected officials and the government as a whole toward as we gradually emerge out of a global pandemic. Naomi thinks that although the Biden administration had a good run for a few weeks, they are now back to being regular old terrible Democrats who will disappoint us deeply and anger us daily and will proceed to lose the 2024 presidential election. That sounds right!

Ms. Klein also makes the astute observation that if nothing else, the most savvy Republican operatives and pols are poised to take advantage of absolutely any misstep that Democrats make. They’re like vultures, but also like bats. Vulture bats, but racist. Racist vulture bats on prime time, with supersonic powers of awareness that allow them to swoop in and pluck a Democratic scandal to the bone before it even hits the ground. Because this is the case, Naomi makes it very clear that we all need to do everything we can to distinguish ourselves from the Democratic Party, and we need to do everything we can to make sure that Dems don’t eff that up for us. Because the vulture bats can have them. There are more of us if we manage to do something about it as a movement.
